An innovative model of social and entrepreneurial sponsorship for regional excellence: ‘Entreprises et Cités’ is one of the biggest entrepreneurial campuses in France

It was transformed in October 2016 into an entrepreneurial and social endowment fund on the initiative of Alliance Emploi, the GPI (an inter-professional employers group) and  Medef Lille Métropole (the regional business federation). Its mission is to support the development of skills sponsorship, to share expertise, and to ensure the funding of general interest projects. It seeks to serve the real economy, make people the focus of the business model once again, and give meaning to current economic, digital and societal transformations.

One of our main challenges today is to better anticipate changes in society so that the higher education on offer in the Hauts-de-France becomes a driving force for employment and socio-economic development in our region.

As such, the Hauts-de-France Regional Council, through its Regional Higher Education Innovation Scheme (SRESRI) helps strengthen links between higher education and the economic world.

If we are to achieve this common goal, we must form partnerships with all these actors.

It is also necessary to create an environment that is conducive to student success by adapting to their profiles as much as possible. With a world in full digital transition, educational innovation is essential for our students to succeed.

The creation of its new platform helps the University of Lille fully respond to the ambitions of the SRESRI scheme by creating and developing a new interface between higher education and its socio-economic partners.

The Hauts-de-France Regional Council is pleased to contribute towards the development of this new tool.

As part of its student support policy, the MEL (the European Metropolis of Lille) wanted to give its backing to the University of Lille's new platform.

This tool will help meet the objectives that the MEL has set through its Metropolis Higher Education and Research Scheme (SMESR), in particular to promote student success and professional integration. It also corresponds to Damien Castelain's desire to make higher education and research a strategic focus of the European Metropolis of Lille.

This new tool will help to build a partnership network between socio-economic actors in the MEL, the University of Lille, and its students, to promote exchange and collaboration between the world of education and research and the professional sphere.

For the MEL, this tool responds to an important challenge by facilitating the professional integration of students in the area.

It will also serve to promote the University of Lille and attract new talent.
